[ The cool arrogance that is Erik Lehnsherr is fundamental to who he has become as a person. From thinking himself largely alone, no other creature made and moulded as he is, to being introduced to a world where mutation is the next stage in humanity as it is. He thrums with pride at it, at knowing that he’s stronger, better than others after years of being told he’s less.

Why wouldn’t he cling to something that gave him that pride?

It means something to him, to be strong, to be powerful, and it shows in how he holds himself. His body stretched out, muscles flexing, eyes dark as they drink her in and devour her completely. She’s unique, and interesting, and he’s curious to badger her for more, to see what she might want from him. Erik is aware he’s an alluring prize to some. ]

Most people do. I can’t fault you for that.

[ The implication being that he could for other things, of course. The nature of the beast, as it were. ]

Invisible is fine, if there’s a point to it. But living in the shadows when the world should be listening to you? That’s a disappointment.
