The day has an edge of fall's coming chill, shadows gathering below the walls of the maze. Armand watches the golden light slant across the trees and the hay bales, allowing himself to enjoy the simple beauty of the moment. Soon, too soon, they will be in the cold darkness once more.

"I am," he says softly, seeing no reason to lie to Lestat. No matter what happens between them, they have a long history, and the other vampire has been keeping to his word.

He turns his head slightly to look at Lestat through his tinted glasses.

"Where do you find your inspiration tonight? Will we soon be joined by a dazzle-eyed beauty looking for a lost prince?"
