... I suppose you're right. It was not something I chose on my own.

[But for Diarmuid, he at least would be allowed to be freed from a chosen path. The other monks had never said he was imprisoned in monkhood, though... some had admittedly made it sound like an alternative was lesser. The older monks don't really know any other way; for some, they had been sent away by their families long ago to be ordained. To praise and be dutiful to God.

Diarmuid never minded it. Being good to God. But his thoughts were never quite so catastrophic as others like Cathal, who always seemed anxious about salvation and the safety of one's soul. Diarmuid had questions, things he wished to ask God. Sometimes he feels like the questions are answered wordlessly, and sometimes he isn't quite sure God had lent an ear to him the day of his ramblings.]

Whether God can hear me from here or not, sometimes the act is enough to give one strength.
