[ while cellar covers herself, adam's gaze never wanders anywhere below her shoulders, or what he can see of them. when his eyes do shift, it's to cast a glance down at the egg in his hand, still held a couple inches above the pool deck. truthfully, he has no real interest in keeping it, no strong desire to know what's inside, and yet - when it's offered to him, he brings it closer in front of him, thumb pressing into the seam where two halves meet.
the egg splits open, just a sliver at first, and adam uses just the one hand to pry it open further, like a shelf expertly cracking an egg. ]
I've only opened one, [ he says idly, quietly, looking down at the contents spilling into his palm. ] There was candy inside. [ a pause, a brief glance upward to look at cellar before he returns his gaze to his hand. with his other one, he scoops something out with his index and middle finger. ] Tasted like... chalk.
[ when he looks up again, there's the faintest suggestion of a smile playing at one corner of his mouth, brief and maybe a little uncertain. he did not like the conversation hearts at all - at least, not the flavor.
out of his palm, he lifts - a bracelet, and he lets it dangle from his two fingers somewhere closer to cellar's eye level. he says nothing else, but the way his brows lift slightly makes it seem as if he's asking her if she'd like to keep it. clearly, it doesn't suit him.
there's another one of those conversation hearts left in his palm, too, but he doesn't offer that yet. ]
