Vhagar is my dragon. I am her rider, have been since I was ten. She is roughly a hundred and seventy and five years old, already an adult dragon since before the Conquest. I am greatly fond of her.
Nineteen. Twenty in May. That was on my Butler profile, you know.
You were ten and riding dragons?? They start you YOUNG there, don't they? But okay, wow. How long do dragons live? Where do they come from? Actually, I had a whole list of questions about them but then the game sort of distracted me.
I did not care to read your profile when I crossed paths with it.
[ he will not pretend otherwise, or lie about it. ]
When a Targaryen is born, and a clutch of dragon eggs should be found unhatched, an egg would be placed in our cribs. The hope is that the egg will hatch, and the dragon that rises from the shell will be our companion for the rest of our lives.
There were no dragons for me. I had to claim mine own among the wild ones and the riderless ones. Vhagar is the oldest of them all. If you would answer my questions about what you know, I would answer your questions about our dragons in turn.
She is a gentle person. Lost to dreams, most of the time, but when she is present she has the clearest mind you will ever meet in anyone. Clever, under all of it, and a good mother.
Dragons are only dangerous if you do not understand their nature. We are taught that, too. They are beings with their minds own, and deserving of respect as any man.
It was enlightening, that's all. Helpful during the game.
I see. They're not like horses, then, more like part of the crew. Luffy says the ship is like that, in it's way, though I guess that isn't exactly the same.
She sounds amazing. The two of you are lucky to have each other.
I have a younger brother. He's sixteen now, I think.
[Steve hadn't mentioned Bobby or her parents when he'd told her what was happening in Hawkins, so she's just going to assume that they managed to get out before things went completely crazy.]
It's more that you have to respect them and understand that they're more than just a vessel. They're a part of the crew. Or that's how Luffy explains it, at least.
I am sorry for that, but glad that justice was served for you.
My husband served him his gold crown. Molten, on the top of his head.
[Fitting really, but the memory of that day, of having a knife to her belly, with the child she was meant to have. It is still painful for many reasons.]
...I guess I want to know who. How deep it goes. I don't need the explicit details, only - only if you want to try something. If you want me to do it better.
You know this isn't the way I'd want it if I could. But I think we're past that now.
Me? The boring answer is any Hollywood heartthrob in a suit. The fun one? Racecar driver.
Bobby was a decent guy when I knew him. Hated Roy Cohn, and that's as good a judge of character as any. You into all politics or just the ones where they're attractive?
oop i forgot cw mentions of homophobia & conversion therapy
Did Tim teach you about Puritanism and Prohibition yet? They've added a lot more onto the list of things a man should be ashamed of. Anything but working a decent job, marrying a pretty girl with a white picket fence, making a few babies and enjoying it 'til you die is worthy of a second glance. From the neighbors, the government - there's a lot of fear when it comes to "other".
Huh. And it's solely based on the coloring? You know - there's a phenomenon in genetics, they call it recessive genes. Not my area of expertise, but I take it there's no such thing as Punnett squares in your libraries.
Well, if it's not Laenor, then who do you suppose it is?
...I doubt it. His father - my father-in-law, took his own life in an act of nobility and he was released shortly after. We didn't stay in touch, as you can imagine.
