[ Time to spend the whole time choosing what to wear oh no ]

[Teddie, meanwhile, had a whole outfit waiting in his closet for this very moment, it would seem. He just gravitates toward it after freshening up, spritzing on cologne and adjusting his cufflinks as he stares at the mirror (seeing something he doesn't quite recognize behind his own eyes) before heading off just before the midnight hour.

The terrace overlooks some greenery, and is alight with fairy lights hanging from a section of trellis. Teddie's out by the edge, hands in his pockets and back turned to the door. He's got a bottle of champagne on the cast iron table next to him, and seems to be staring up at the stars as time ticks away to midnight.]

[ She dresses in blue, hair tied back and wearing some of her best jewelry, replacing all the glitter and colors with classic makeup — following Teddie's short instructions to their fullest, eager to please him, wanting to see his expression light up when he realizes that.

At the same time, though, Mila worries it might be too much. Even as she stands at the door, heels clacking softly as she steps out to the terrace to approach him, she keeps her gaze down when she isn't taking in the details of what he put together for them. It's so pretty. So much more romantic than anyone's been with her. ]

... Hi.

[chokedout]

[He turns slowly toward her, eyes skimming from the ground up and it's true. He lights up when he sees her, sees how the blue radiates off of her; how it brings out the blonde of her hair, how the dress hugs her in a way that makes his heart beat a little faster and a smile split across his face. He takes his hands out of his pockets and lets them hang at his sides, before reaching out to her with his left hand, to bring her in closer.]

I feel like you always manage to take my breath away.

[ She's sure anyone would've said something else, maybe questioned why she decided to look so different tonight, made a comment that drew attention to just that; not Teddie, though, who always knows the right thing to say. Mila squeezes his hand softly, lowering her gaze bashfully, only to smile back up at him. Unable to resist, she leans in for a long, chaste kiss. ]

I wanted to look perfect for you. It's so pretty here, Teddie.

[chokedout]

You could wear a paper bag and be perfect for me.

[Meant to sound like she'd look good in anything but sounds just a touch "please wear a skimpy bag" for which he laughs, looking down a little bashful himself. He squeezes her hand, before leaning for a second kiss - chaste as well, but just as lingering. He'd keep it up if he didn't have a haphazard idea to be getting to. Leaning back again, he can't help but keep smiling.]

I meant what I said about being meant to be. I can feel it in my bones. You too, don't you?

[longlegs]

[ She covers her mouth to laugh then composes herself, but not without softly biting her lower lip with the grin. Mila nods. ]

Yeah, I — I do. Everything like it's ... always been here. For us. And it was just waiting for us to find each other.

[ She cuts herself off before adding an 'again'. ]

Exactly. What we have is... what most people dream about finding in a lifetime. We've had it for a few weeks and it feels like months. You asked me to prove I'm now devoted to us, and I am - to maintaining what we have, working toward what will be and... to protecting what we we are.

[He accidentally showed her the signet ring earlier. It was meant more as a trinket; more as something to show he cared, or to maybe 'go steady' like high school sweethearts. But here it is, appearing in his hand like a magic trick, as his eyes glance up to meet hers.]

I'll gift you a part of my soul in exchange for a part of yours - will you have it?

[ Her heart is racing, her cheeks warm — she doesn't know what to expect and is still terrified she might be hoping for too much, that she'll be disappointed, somehow, when what Teddie says next is too different from this undefined dream that's bringing her up to the clouds. Even as Mila's expression is as bright as sunshine, there's caution in her smile, telling herself this can't actually be what she thinks it is. ]

… Yeah, [ She says with soft laughter, lifting her right hand up to her chest. ] I'll gift you a part of my soul too, Teddie.

[ A phrase keeps repeating in her head, in her voice, then in his. ]

I'm yours, you're mine.

[chokedout]

[He feels so elated - this warm bubbly feeling in his chest, threatening to pour over. He reaches down for her hand, the left, and cradles it in his palm. He strokes his finger over the back of it, before meeting gaze with her once again. This feels like a familiar moment somehow, even though he knows it's not. Whispering together their own set of vows, tying themselves together without the drama of outside viewers.]

I promise to cherish you, to love you and most importantly - to never stifle who you are because I love every aspect of you that I know and all of those I've yet to learn. This ring only signifies a part of my devotion, the rest of which I'll owe you to my dying day. Do you accept it?

[He says with a cheeky smile, ring to the tip of her finger.]
