I think about cycles a lot. You can be inside one and not even know it, you know?

It's the self-awareness part I struggled with, I guess. Being smart or being strong don't seem to help people escape cycles, because my mother was both those things. It's something else. Adaptability, maybe. Another kind of resilience?
